Bag ItThere’s another opportunity to view Festival 2011 Opening Night film BAG IT at the San Francisco Public Library on Thursday, August 23. This film will change your life!

Americans use 60,000 plastic bags every five minutes, disposable bags that they throw away without much thought. But where is “away”? Where do the bags and other plastics end up, and at what cost to the environment, marine life, and human health? BAG IT follows “everyman” Jeb Berrier as he navigates our plastic world. What he learns quickly grows far beyond plastic bags…

Also, check out “The Plastic in Question” exhibit on the 1st, 4th and 5th Floors of the San Francisco Main Library. Since 1999 Judith Selby Lang and Richard Lang have collected more than two tons of plastic trash from 1,000 yards of Kehoe Beach along the Point Reyes National Seashore. They have transformed this debris into engaging works of art that raise awareness of the sheer variety and ubiquity of plastic pollution and its impact on delicate marine ecosystems.

Please visit SFPL for more information on these and other Green Stacks events as part of “The Plastic in Question” exhibit running through October 11.
